Kongsi Table, 2018

Ideations and processes.
This module exposes us in designing children's furniture for a kindergarten in TasikMalaya, Indonesia, I conducted interviews and research with the target group of children aged 5-6 years old and their parents. This helped me gain insights into their preferences and perspectives on what they would like to see in children's furniture.
Based on the findings, I conceptualized the Kongsi table, that aims to encourage children to learn through a fun and self-initiated journey.
The Kongsi table, also known as the sharing table, provides a social setting for children to play and interact. It incorporates a fun element by integrating a basket where children can sweep or toss their toys for easy cleanup. This solves the problem of parents having to clean up after their children and also teaches children to take responsibility for their belongings.
The table serves multiple functions. Children can play on it, and when it is time for cleanup, they can simply remove the lid and sweep the toys into the basket provided. The basket can also be removed and shared with other children in the kindergarten, promoting a sense of community and sharing.
Final presented storyboard.
